panacea formed in 2002 and saw the blending of various musical backgrounds and interests that have developed over some years. tracey, lawrence and glen have known each other and played together over a number of years, but all have had individual projects that have at some point drawn them in their own direction. lawrence and tracey played together in 'the chase' before the birth of their daughter megan. lawrence is a reputable border bagpipe player with 'the eel grinders' and 'zephyrus', and glen and lawrence have also been working on sequenced and acoustic music under many guises! 2002 drew us together after tracey worked at glastonbury with bully. his introduction to the group brought a new dynamic bass sound that energized the band both live and in the studio. bully has been a singer/songwriter for many years, performing on a professional basis both solo and with bands such as 'rifiki'. the sequenced drum loops have always produced a lively dance element to the music but it was always intended that a true percussionist would complete the band musically. russell is a well known teacher of percussion and plays tabla, darabuka, reqq, bendir and duff amongst other musical instruments. a founder member of indo-arab fusionists 'taaliqa' and traditional turkish trio 'bazigah', his input has seen the music reach an exciting new level which we hope to develop in 2004 - 2005..........
